Sana’a Cafe sits quietly on New Montgomery Street, serving as a mellow spot for anyone looking to step away from San Francisco’s usual café hustle. This Yemeni-style coffee shop embraces a relaxed vibe that locals appreciate for casual meetups, solo work sessions, or just a moment to unwind with something different on the menu.

The atmosphere is cozy without feeling cramped. Warm lighting and softly colored walls create a comforting backdrop, paired with straightforward, ample seating that invites you to linger. It’s not a flashy space but one that feels thoughtfully put together—perfect for a quiet break during a busy downtown day or a laid-back catch-up with friends.

The coffee offerings lean into traditional Yemeni and Middle Eastern flavors, making it a spot where curious coffee drinkers can explore something beyond the typical espresso-based drinks. Expect to find Turkish Coffee, Arabic Coffee, and a variety of Yemeni teas like Adeni Chai and Karak Chai alongside familiar staples such as lattes and cold brew. These drinks come with unique spice notes and sweet touches, though some visitors find the sweetness a bit pronounced on the chai varieties.

Pastries and sweets complement the drinks with strong regional character—baklava, saffron milk cake, pistachio treats, and pomegranate Turkish delight are highlights. These options tend to come in generous portions, making them well-suited for sharing or a satisfying solo indulgence.

The café’s location just around the corner from the W Hotel means it attracts a mix of nearby office workers, hotel visitors, and local regulars who enjoy a place that’s modern but deeply rooted in a different coffee tradition. Early afternoons and late mornings feel like the sweet spots for visiting—times when the pace is unhurried and the seating readily available.

Staff interactions are generally described as friendly and approachable, adding to the welcoming feel without being overbearing. The space strikes a balance where you can settle in for focused work or simply enjoy a low-key pause amid downtown's energy.

In all, Sana’a Cafe fits well as a neighborhood coffee spot offering an alternative spectrum of flavors to San Francisco’s coffee scene. It’s best appreciated by those interested in exploring Middle Eastern and Yemeni coffee culture or anyone seeking a quiet, comfortable retreat from the surrounding urban buzz.

What a cool place. Just around the corner from the W hotel. Laid back vibe, plenty of seating, friendly customer service, and most importantly delicious coffee and pastries. The coffees and drinks are unique with flavors you won't find elsewhere. The pastries and desserts were all fresh and large portions. Highly recommended if you're in the area. Get your order for dine-in, stay awhile, and enjoy the vibe.

It’s nice to have a Yemeni cafe in SF! The menu is impressive here, a lot of drinks and desserts. I was not too impressed by the iced adeni chai, compared to the other Yemeni cafe’s I’ve been to - it felt a bit watered down. Willing to give them another shot some time though. The Nutella cheesecake was good.

Sana'a Cafe offers a nice quiet environment to unwind and enjoy a beverage and desert. The decor is interesting and the ambience of the lighting, wall color, and furniture is comforting. The Chai tea is a little to sweet for my taste but it was pleasantly good. I definitely will return.
